Winter Vacations Extended in AJK Schools Amid Severe Weather Conditions

The Education Department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has announced an extension of winter vacations in schools due to an ongoing severe cold wave. This decision affects both public and private institutions across the region.

As per the official notification issued on Tuesday, schools will now remain closed until January 4, 2025. Classes are scheduled to resume on February 6, delaying the previously announced reopening date of February 2.

The decision to extend winter vacations in AJK was taken to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff, as the harsh weather has created significant commuting challenges. The Education Department emphasized that this extension is aimed at mitigating the difficulties caused by the severe cold wave.

Similarly, the Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) had earlier announced a one-week extension to winter vacations for all schools across the province, citing similar concerns over adverse weather conditions.

Initially, KP authorities had planned the winter break for schools in plain areas from December 22 to December 31. However, the reopening date has been extended to January 7 instead of January 1.
