PCB Wants All Captains Attend Champions Trophy 2025 Opening Ceremony

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to ensure the presence of all team captains at the opening ceremony of the Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, which will be held in Pakistan.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made its request amidst reports from Indian media suggesting that Indian captain Rohit Sharma “might” travel to Pakistan for pre-tournament events. These events are anticipated to include a captains’ photo shoot and a press conference where team leaders will share their expectations for the Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.
Despite these reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not issued an official statement regarding Sharma’s possible visit. The PCB remains cautious about his participation, given India’s earlier decision not to send their team to Pakistan, a stance that resulted in the adoption of a hybrid model for the upcoming tournament.
Sources within the PCB have confirmed that the board has taken full responsibility for facilitating visas for all participants, including players, officials, commercial partners, media personnel, and fans. This proactive approach highlights the PCB’s commitment to creating a smooth and welcoming environment for the eight-team tournament.
“The PCB has informed the ICC about the opening ceremony, which will take place in Pakistan,” a PCB source stated. “All teams and their captains are expected to attend the event.”
Additionally, the PCB has assured the ICC that it has successfully arranged visas for the ICC delegation, including three representatives from India. These delegations have already visited Pakistan to assess venue arrangements and preparations, underscoring Pakistan’s readiness to host the tournament.
The opening ceremony of the Champions Trophy 2025 is tentatively planned for February 16 or 17, depending on the schedule of the warm-up matches. This highly anticipated event aims to highlight Pakistan’s hospitality and organizational excellence, setting the stage for an exciting tournament on the global cricket calendar.
