CM Punjab Wants to Expand Scholarship Program to KP and Balochistan

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the Honhaar Scholarship Programme in Dera Ghazi Khan on Monday, expressing her intention to expand the initiative to students from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and Balochistan.

Speaking at the scholarship distribution ceremony, Maryam Nawaz distributed over Rs. 30 million in scholarships to more than 1,200 students. “My wish is to extend these scholarships to the children of KPK and Balochistan. I ask for nothing in return, except that you honor your parents and make them proud,” she remarked.

Addressing the event, the Chief Minister highlighted the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring quality education and access to modern technology. She also announced plans to distribute laptops and e-bikes to students in the near future.

Earlier, at the Honhaar Scholarship distribution ceremony at Government College Women’s University Sialkot, Maryam Nawaz shared promising news for high-achieving students. She announced that students scoring above 65% marks would be awarded laptops, stating, “I will personally present these laptops to you very soon.”

Currently, 30,000 Honhaar Scholarships are awarded annually. However, Maryam Nawaz acknowledged this as inadequate and revealed plans to increase the number by 20,000. She directed authorities to allocate a total of 50,000 scholarships in next year’s budget.
