LESCO to Replace Over 5 Million Single-Phase Meters with Smart Meters

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has initiated a plan to upgrade over 5 million single-phase meters by replacing them with advanced smart meters.
As reported by a private news channel, citing sources, LESCO has started procuring Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) smart meters as part of a pilot project aimed at modernizing its system.
The installation of these smart meters is expected to eliminate overbilling, as all billing operations will be managed directly from a central control room.
Earlier, LESCO had implemented a similar initiative for three-phase smart meters. After witnessing positive outcomes in revenue recovery and reduction of line losses, the company has now extended the project to single-phase meters.
