The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a major financial incentive for six top foreign players ahead of the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season. According to both local and international sources, the board will offer an additional $100,000 to each of these high-profile players for committing to participate in the tournament.

PCB Introduces Special $1 Million Fund for Foreign Players in PSL 2025

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a special financial boost for foreign players participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, with a total fund of $1 million allocated to support their salaries.

Special Fund for Elite Players

This fund, established by the PCB, aims to incentivize high-profile foreign players to join the tournament. It was created under an agreement to compensate top-tier players when the central revenue pool’s net broadcast revenue reaches Rs. 3 billion. According to a PCB official, this fund will cover the salaries of overseas players who have signed contracts for the 2025 edition of the PSL.

The maximum base salary for foreign players in the PSL draft was initially set at $200,000, but for this year’s edition, the amount has been increased.

David Warner Leads the Charge

Among the marquee players, David Warner, who is a prominent signing for Karachi Kings, will earn $300,000 for his participation in PSL 2025. The PCB will contribute $100,000 from the special fund to Warner’s salary, marking the first time such a financial package has been offered to foreign players.

Increased Fund Due to Unused Allocation

A few years ago, the PSL Governing Council decided that when the central revenue pool’s net broadcast revenue reached Rs. 3 billion, $500,000 would be set aside annually to support elite player salaries. However, since the fund remained unused last year, the amount has now been increased to $1 million.

Notable Signings and IPL Clash

The PSL 2025 edition will see several high-profile foreign players who went unsold in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, including David Warner, Daryl Mitchell, Kane Williamson, Finn Allen, Matthew Short, Sean Abbott, Nahid Rana, Liton Das, Michael Bracewell, Russie van der Dussen, and Corbin Bosch. These players will bring added star power to the 10th edition of the PSL.

PSL 2025 Set to Clash with IPL, Marking a New Era for Contracts

The 2025 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will run concurrently with the Indian Premier League (IPL), as both leagues are scheduled to take place during overlapping windows. The PSL is set for April 17 to May 22, while the IPL will be held from March 21 through the end of May.

This overlap is expected to create a fascinating clash between the two major T20 leagues in their latter stages, intensifying the competition and drawing even more attention from cricket fans around the world.

A New Era for PSL Contracts

With increasing financial support and a growing pool of top-tier players signing on for larger fees, the PSL is strengthening its position as one of the premier T20 leagues globally. The PCB’s strategy to attract high-profile talent with lucrative contracts is expected to elevate the PSL’s international stature while providing significant exposure for Pakistani cricket.
