The Punjab government has launched a new initiative to protect schoolchildren from harsh winter conditions by providing them with warm clothing.

Beginning January 13, around 21,000 students attending public schools will be provided with essential winter clothing. The distribution will take place in Lahore, Narowal, Rajanpur, and Layyah.

The program will provide students with sweaters, jackets, shoes, and uniforms to help them stay warm throughout the winter months.

The project, launched under the directives of the Chief Minister, is being implemented with the assistance of the Bait-ul-Mal Department and the Social Welfare Department. Officials have confirmed that the selection of schools eligible for the program has already been finalized.

Meanwhile, the Punjab School Education Department has temporarily relaxed uniform requirements for students. According to a recent notification, students in both public and private schools are now permitted to wear any type or color of warm clothing, including jackets, sweaters, coats, hats, socks, and shoes.

This decision, intended to ensure children’s comfort during the winter, will remain in effect until February 28, 2025.
