Maryam Nawaz Launches ‘Dhee Rani Program’ with Mass Wedding Ceremony for 51 Couples
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the groundbreaking ‘Dhee Rani Program’ on Saturday, celebrating its launch with a grand mass wedding ceremony for 51 couples, including five Christian pairs. The initiative aims to provide financial relief to underprivileged families and is the first program of its kind in Punjab.
In her address to the gathering, Maryam Nawaz congratulated the newlyweds and their families, offering heartfelt prayers for their happiness and bright futures. She described the event as both touching and joyous, expressing her personal pride in sharing this momentous occasion with the couples.
“This is an emotional and joyful day, not just for the couples and their parents, but for me as well,” she said. “I share the happiness of these families, much like a mother celebrating her child’s special day.”
During the event, the Chief Minister personally greeted each couple, handed out congratulatory cards, and prayed for their successful married lives. She shared her best wishes, saying, “May Allah bless this new chapter in your lives, replacing any hardships with endless joy and prosperity.”
As part of the program, the newlyweds received essential household items, including mattresses, dinnerware, cookware, and other daily necessities. Each couple also received a special ‘Dhee Rani Greeting Card’ and a monetary gift of Rs100,000.
Maryam Nawaz inspected the gifts and participated in a group photo with the couples. The Social Welfare Department also hosted a complimentary lunch for all attendees to celebrate the occasion.
The ‘Dhee Rani Program’ aims to ease the financial burden of marriage for families with limited resources, fostering a sense of community and social inclusion. Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of such welfare initiatives, highlighting their role in building a compassionate and supportive society.
The inaugural event, held at a premier marriage venue in Lahore, marked a significant milestone for social welfare efforts in Punjab and showcased the program’s dedication to supporting underprivileged families.
