Punjab to Teach IT, Health Sciences, and Agriculture in Schools

Punjab Government to Launch Technical Education in Public Schools
The Punjab government is set to introduce technical education in public schools across the province starting from the new academic year. This initiative aims to integrate technical subjects into the middle and high school curricula, equipping students with practical skills to enhance their future career prospects.
Khalid Nazir Wattoo, Punjab’s Secretary for School Education, has directed the printing of specialized textbooks designed for this program. Additionally, education officials across the province have been instructed to compile and report the number of students enrolling in these technical education programs at both middle and high school levels.
This forward-looking step underscores the government’s commitment to preparing students for the demands of a rapidly evolving job market.
The curriculum will feature subjects such as agriculture, information technology, health sciences, and fashion design, aiming to equip students with practical skills and prepare them for real-world challenges and diverse career opportunities.
Wattoo emphasized that the objective is to provide students with the necessary skills to excel in professional settings. By incorporating technical education into public schools, the Punjab government aims to empower students, helping them succeed in their chosen careers.
