SECP Posts Highest Monthly Company Registrations in January 2025

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has reached a historic milestone by registering an unprecedented 3,442 companies in a single month, marking a 39 percent increase compared to the previous year’s monthly average.

This remarkable accomplishment underscores the SECP’s dedication to creating a business-friendly environment and enhancing the ease of doing business in Pakistan. It reflects the commission’s ongoing efforts to streamline processes and encourage entrepreneurship across the country.

In January 2025, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered companies across a wide range of sectors, with notable growth in key industries. The Information Technology (IT) and e-commerce sectors led the way, adding 652 new companies. This was followed by the trading sector with 463 new companies, the services sector with 411, and Real Estate Development & Construction with 311 new registrations.

Other sectors also showed significant growth, including Tourism and Transport with 242 new companies, Food and Beverages with 158, Healthcare & Pharmaceutical with 233, Fuel & Energy with 81, Education with 124, Mining and Quarrying with 119, Marketing and Advertisement with 86, Textile with 79, and Corporate Agricultural Farming with 73 new companies. Additionally, sectors such as Auto and Allied, Power Generation, Sports and Allied, Tobacco, and others contributed 650 new registrations.

The incorporation trend also revealed a growing preference for various business structures. Private companies made up 58 percent of the total new registrations, while single-member companies accounted for 38 percent. The remaining 4 percent included unlisted companies, non-profit organizations, trade organizations, and Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs). This diverse growth highlights the dynamic and evolving business landscape in Pakistan.
