Young Doctors Association Announces Strike

Zahid Chaudhry reported that the Young Doctors Association (YDA) held a press conference at Ganga Ram Hospital. The event was attended by YDA Provincial President Dr. Shoaib Niazi, Chairman Dr. Mudassir Ashrafi, and other notable members including Dr. Usman Gujar, Dr. Ejaz Kharl, Dr. Haseeb Thand, Dr. Rashid Warraich, and Dr. Ahmed Gujar.
The YDA highlighted the following demands and concerns:
Provision of hostel facilities for doctors at Ganga Ram Hospital.
Upgradation of the lady doctors’ hostel at the hospital.
The security company at the hospital is not paying its staff the minimum wage.
An increase in theft incidents within the hospital premises.
A shortage of essential medicines and rising cases of theft involving medical supplies.
The YDA stated, “It is the state’s responsibility to provide healthcare, education, and safety. We should not be compelled to protest in order to have our demands addressed.”
Dr. Haseeb Thand also called for an audit of the JKAT examination and demanded the induction of doctors who passed the exam last year.
In solidarity with doctors from Balochistan, the YDA announced a strike in the Outpatient Department (OPD) on January 20, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
